Is That a Balloon in My Backyard or Are You Just Glad to See Me?

The aspens have turned on the North side of the Sandias so it must be Balloon Fiesta time. Don't own a balloon? No problem. Come to the Placitas Cafe and you can drown your sorrows in a pint of great beer or your favorite vino. And do it all while listening to some great live music! Stick that in your dirigible!

On Friday, Oct 3rd, RockZonE will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Falling rock is actually a lot safer than a balloon falling on you.







On Tuesday, Oct 7th, Anna N will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Don't know what the N stands for....nice....native.... nameless. Come by and ask her yourself.

On Friday, Oct 17th, Ariana will be singing songs while playing the piano (while balancing three cats yodeling from a chandelier -- OK, made that part up) from 6 - 8 pm.

On Friday Oct 24th, 6 to 8 pm. Claystone, the musical duo of Kent Gurle and Doug Davidson, will be performing their acoustical harmonies.







Friday Oct 31st, Haiku Cowboys will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Their foot stomping desert rock will have you on your feet...steel toed shoes optional.

Enough Sense to Get Out of the Rain?

So the rains have come, but this time it really does feel like "monsoon season" is the right name for it. As much as we like it, it does make sense to come in out of the rain, and what better place is there to do that then the Placitas Cafe?

On Friday, August 1st, RockZonE will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. If you don't fall for their music, you must not be in the zone.






 
On Friday, August 8th, Righteous Men will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. No bibles necessary but bring your tapping toes on down.

On Tuesday, August 12th, Todd Tijerina will be performing his unique blend of blues, funk, roots-rock and jazz from 6 - 8 pm.








On Friday, August 15th, Judy and Jorge will be performing from 6 - 8 pm.




Friday August 22nd, Haiku Cowboys will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Their sound could be pure poetry if it didn't have to rhyme and be only 3 lines.
 


On Tuesday, August 26th, Ariana will be singing songs while playing the piano (can you do that? how about while chewing gum? I thought so.) from 6 - 8 pm.

On Friday, August 29th, Bohemian Sol will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. and even if it's raining, they bring on the sol.

May Day! May Day! WE NEED BEER AND PIZZA! NOW!

Sure, you could watch the annual May Day parade in Red Square, but it would be a lot more fun to salute the beer taps at the Cafe while you down another slice of delicious pizza. The choice is yours (but we know which way we're going).

On Friday, May 2nd, Ariana will be singing songs while playing the piano (can you do that? how about while chewing gum? I thought so.) from 6 - 8 pm.

On Tuesday, May 6th, John Bullock and John Davis will play all your favorite tunes for your listening pleasure. Catch them from 6 - 8 pm. 

On Friday, May 9th, the Olde And In the Way will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. They play familiar songs from the 6os-70s-and 80s from lots of genres. Don't know who the guys are in the picture at right, but they look like old guys who could sing. Come down to the Cafe and find out what they really look like.

On Friday, May 16th, the Red Light Ramblers will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Lots of bluegrass and old timey music to get your toes tapping. 



Tuesday, May 20th, The Nancy Show will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Play show and tell with her...but be nice.

Friday, May 23rd, Bob Gusch will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. He's known for his Brazilian jazz licks with the group Saudade, but will solo for you on his many woodwinds. And maybe some Dixieland as well.

On Friday, May 30th, Bohemian Sol will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. and they will be ready to bring on the heat. Watch out for solar flares!

Give Thanks Early....Come On Down to the Placitas Cafe

Yeah, that's right. Hanukkah and Thanksgiving fall on the same day this year. The Cafe will be closed but it's not too late to find a kosher turkey.

Righteous Dudes are appearing at the Cafe on Friday Nov 1st, from 6 to 8 pm. They were never mentioned in the scriptures, I swear on a bible.



Then on Friday, Nov 8th, The Bullock Project will be here featuring singer-songwriter John Bullock at the Cafe from
6 - 8 pm. It's a CD release party but you don't need a CD player to get in.

On Tuesday Nov 12th, 6 to 8 pm. Claystone, the musical duo of Kent Gurle and Doug Davidson, will be performing their acoustical harmonies.

It's Monsoon Time -- Get Out of the Rain and Dry Out in the Cafe

It's nice and dry in the Cafe but the beer is nice and wet. It's the perfect combination (less wet, more taste).

The Question Mark will entertain you on Tuesday, August 6th, from 6 to 8p.m. If you have to ask, you don't want to know. So don't ask. This is either a big inside joke, or we don't really know who the hell is playing that night. But it's pizza night, so that should be good enough!

The Red Light Ramblers kick off the month of June for us on Tuesday June 4th, from 6 to 8 pm. Listen in to hear for yourself if their bluegrass is bluer than your bluegrass.

And what could be more appropriate on a summer evening than Bohemian Sol. Catch their distinctive sound at the Cafe on Friday June 7th, from 6 to 8 pm. Don't be stingy with the sunblock.

Here Comes the Sun?

Tired of winter? Ready for some warm sunshine? Can't guarantee that Spring is really here, but at least Bohemian Sol will be bringing their distinctive sound back to the Cafe on Friday March 1st, from 6 to 8 pm. Wear shorts if you dare!
