It's Holiday Time In the Sandias!

The days are still warm and sunny but the holidays are coming. How do we know? Just listen to the music at the mall and that will give you a clue. But if you want a break from all that "noise," it's Placitas Cafe Time!!

Cheap and Easy is playing two gigs this month. You heard right! Two, two, two gigs in one month! It's like Doublemint Gum for crying out loud! Come on down on Friday, December 7, 6-8 pm and let Cheap and Easy soothe your Muzak-battered soul.

On Tuesday, December 11th, from 6-8 pm, Seth and will make their first appearance at the Cafe. Let's make Seth and and welcome. If you figure this out before we do, let us know.

RockZone will be back on Friday (AKA Fryday) December 14th, 6 to 8 pm. This falling rock zone includes classic rock, blues and country music.

The third Tuesday of the month, December 18, means it's time to sit back and relax with our favorite local band, Cheap and Easy. Get there early if you want to find a seat, because the fun starts at 6 pm. And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Pizza vs live music? Tough one. The only solution is to have both.

Bad Katz Blues, another first-time act for the Cafe, will be laying down some bluesy tunes on Friday, December 21, 6-8 pm. If you're not feeling blue, something's wrong with you. Everybody gets the blues!

We are closed on December 25....but we bet you already knew that.

Sit.Stay will be playing on Friday January 4, from 6 to 8 pm. They do a lot of tricks, but fetch is not one of them.

Down the Stretch to Turkey Time!!

The temperatures are dipping but that hasn't cramped our style. We still are the center of the universe when it comes to fine food, fun and entertainment. Look it up if you don't believe us.

On Friday nite, November 9th, the Spotted Doggs are back at the Cafe with their original rock and blues sound, from 6 - 8 pm.  Whether they've chewed their rawhide bone or not, you're in for a treat (get it? treat? never mind).

Sage is on stage Friday November 16th, from 6 to 8 pm, singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

The third Tuesday of the month, November 20, means it's time to sit back and relax with our favorite local band, Cheap and Easy. Get there early if you want to find a seat, because the fun starts at 6 pm. And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Music and pizza are the perfect marriage of culture and cuisine. You stuff your pie hole while they fill your head with great music. Deal?

We are closed on November 23....turkey overdose (us -- not the turkey).

Haiku Cowboys will be bringing their distinctive sound back to the Cafe on Friday November 30, from 6 to 8 pm. Three lines, no waiting. Bad haiku joke but what do you expect?

Jumping ahead to December, our local band, Cheap and Easy will be playing their hearts out (you have to see it to believe it) on Friday December 7 as well as Tuesday December 18. Get there early if you want to find a seat, because the fun starts at 6 pm.

Falling for the Placitas Cafe

Hey -- yes you. It's almost October. We can see the aspens turning yellow up on top of the Sandias, so it must be Fall. The weather is fantastic for sitting on the patio at the Placitas Cafe and enjoying the view along with your favorite brew.

And as the sun sinks slowly in the West, what could be better than enjoying some great food along with some great music.

Sage is on stage Friday September 28th, from 6 to 8 pm, singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Haiku Cowboys will be bringing their distinctive sound back to the Cafe on Friday October 5, from 6 to 8 pm. No poetry required but wear shoes that are good for toe-tapping, because you're gonna need them.

On Friday nite, October 12th, the Spotted Doggs are back at the Cafe with their original rock and blues sound, from 6 - 8 pm.  The boys have become separated from their leash so there's no telling what could happen.

The third Tuesday of the month, October 16, means it's time to sit back and relax with our favorite local band, Cheap and Easy. Get there early if you want to find a seat, because the fun starts at 6 pm. And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Music and pizza go together like love and marriage (horse and carriage, ham and eggs, etc.).

RockZone will be back on Friday (AKA Fryday) October 19th, 6 to 8 pm. This falling rock zone is safe, so you don't have to wear a hardhat. A nice gimme cap will be fine.

On Friday October 26th, from 6 to 8 pm, Sage will be back singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

September Sounds Very Sweet

With temps still in the mid nineties, it makes sense that Bohemian Sol will be bringing their distinctive sound back to the Cafe on Tuesday September 13, from 6 to 8 pm. Bring your sunglasses and wear your flip-flops (or vice versa...we're not that strict). But clothing is not optional.

RockZone will be back on Friday (AKA Fryday) September 14th, 6 to 8 pm. So watch out for falling igneous rock, which is often mistaken for "soft rock" but everyone knows that's sedimentary. Are you still with us?

Holding down their usual third Tuesday of the month slot, Cheap and Easy will be back from their It's A Small World Tour on September 18th. Fresh off their appearance at the 2012 New Mexico Wine Festival, you need to get there early if you want to find an empty seat. And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Music and pizza go together like Antony and Cleopatra (hey, hold that asp!).

Then on Friday, September 14, Big Moe and the Philtones will be back at the Cafe with  their classic rock and blues sound, also from 6 - 8 pm.

Then it's Sage on Friday September 28th, from 6 to 8 pm, singling some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Lots of Music In August

Bohemian Sol will be bringing their distinctive sound to the Cafe on Tuesday August 14, from 6 to 8 pm.

And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Music and pizza, get it? You should -- they're both very good.

Then on Friday, August 17, Big Moe and the Philtones will be back at the Cafe with  their classic rock and blues sound, also from 6 - 8 pm.

Holding down their usual third Tuesday of the month slot, Cheap and Easy will be back from their It's A Small World Tour on August 21st. Better catch them at the Cafe before the big crowds swallow them up at the 2012 New Mexico Wine Festival.

Then it's Sage on Friday August 24th, from 6 to 8 pm, singling some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Sit.Stay will be playing on Friday August 31, from 6 to 8 pm. Roll over. Not you -- the dog.

Falling Rocks?

Nothing to worry about here --- we're talking about the band RockzonE and they will not be sliding down the side of the mountain, so you can enjoy the music. They will be playing on Friday the 13th (yeah, yeah, but no worries, honest -- nothing will fall on you), from 6 to 8 pm. Come out and enjoy the food along with the music.

And check out our menu before you get here -- it's pretty funny if you read the whole thing. See you soon!

No Heavy Metals

There are no heavy metal by-products produced when Cheap and Easy creates its crowd-pleasing retro-eclectic sound, so you are going to be completely safe this Friday, July 6, from 6 to 8 pm. After that time, you're on your own health-wise.

We can't do anything to stop the heat, but the Placitas Cafe has the perfect solution to weather these high temperatures. Ice cold drinks of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety will have your body temperature back to normal in no time. Whether it's lemonade and iced tea, or IPA, we have the cure.

Consult our menu if you want to plan ahead to place your order!

Our updated menu is here for you to peruse before you arrive.  Besides being fascinating reading, it gives you something to look forward to even before you get here.

Some Sage Advice This Friday

A wise man once said, if you want my advice, you should go listen to Sage, Friday June 22, 6 to 8pm. And while you're there listening to her contemporary and traditional folk music (along with a bit of country and light rock), you should enjoy a delightful beverage and some fine vittles (who says vittles anymore?).

The temperature is rising, so when the sun starts going down is the perfect time to watch it sink slowly in the West at one of our comfy outdoor tables. Bring your friends and make an evening out of it.

Check out our menu here.

And It Rhymes With Easy Peasey

Favorite local band Cheap and Easy will be back at the Cafe on Friday, June 1, 6 to 8 pm. If you have never heard the band play, you must be living under a rock. If you've been living under a rock, it's time to get out from under and find out for yourself what all the fun is about. While you're doing that, you can enjoy our fine food and a nice cold beer (or wine at a temperature of your choice). You can always have it your way at the Cafe (as long as it's our way too). As the great poet anonymous once said, "As you go down life's highway, keep your feet off the furniture." Amen.

And hey, big news! Our new menu is available online. Check it out here!

Sage Is Coming! Sage Is Coming!

Sounds like a line from a Western movie. No, the stage is not coming -- it's Sage who will be coming to the stage at the Cafe on Friday, May 25, 6 to 8 pm. She will be singing contemporary and traditional folk music, along with a little bit of country and light rock. There's no better way to cap off your week than to join us at the Cafe for fine food and great music.

Put the week behind you and get with the relaxation program here at the Cafe. Nine out of ten doctors would recommend it....if we asked them, we're sure.

Forget counting syllables --- just come on down to the cafe on Friday, May 18, 6 - 8 pm, for the latest installment of the Haiku Cowboys down home desert rock. Poets are welcome but no literary experience is necessary. The food is great, the beer is cold, and the people are friendly. Horses Welcome

Not too many folks ride up to the Cafe on their horses, but that's not to say they wouldn't be welcome. There are plenty of rails where you could tie up the reins. Or just come by to eat like a horse (and we're not talking oats).

Now that the weather is warm, it's the perfect time to avail yourself of the outdoor seating at the Cafe. Bring the whole gang and settle into one of the benches/artwork while you enjoy a fabulous brunch menu and a terrific view of the Sandias. With or without horse, you're welcome to join the fun.

We would save you a seat but we don't when you're coming, do we?

Don't forget that Cheap and Easy will be bring their retro eclectic sound back to the Cafe on Tuesday, April 17, 6 - 8 pm. And Sage will be back to sing on Friday, April 27th.

We'll miss you too. Boo hoo.

While you're marking your calendar (you are taking notes, right?), make sure you mark down Tuesday, April 17th, because Cheap and Easy will be in the house (that is, Cafe). And Sage will be back to sing on Friday, April 27th.

In the immortal words of Porky Pig, That's all Folks!

Yen For Zen

There's a whole bunch of tasty items on the Cafe menu, but if you're hankering for a burger, this is the place to be. Bison or beef, your choice, as are a variety of sides. But if you want to go all classic and keep your karma and your zen in proper alignment, then the onion rings would be just the right go along.

Now, about the FREE buttermilk pie for first-timers. You CANNOT collect your free slice unless you show up in person. Got it? There's no shipping pie slices, so get on over here to claim your piece of the pie!

Just grab some friends and neighbors and come on down to the Cafe.

The Great Outdoors at the Great Cafe

Warm, sunny days are perfect for lolling (and who doesn't like to loll) around on the outdoor seating at the Placitas Cafe. There's a seat there with your name on it. Actually, it says Placitas Cafe on it, but let's not get bogged down in the details. The point is that the Placitas Cafe is the ideal place to sit and catch up with friends and neighbors while you enjoy the great food and superb coffee. Have two cups...no one will tell.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Sage On Stage

Mark it down....Sage will be performing at the Cafe on Friday, March 23, 6 to 8 pm. She will be singing contemporary and traditional folk music, along with a little bit of country and light rock. A great way to close out the week....grab some friends and meet us all down at the Placitas Cafe this Friday.

Monday, March 19, 2012

And the whirlwind of entertainment continues...just back from their world tour (a world tour in Placitas consists of playing up in the village Saturday nite and then back to the Cafe on Tuesday), Cheap and Easy will rock the house once more on Tuesday, March 20 from 6 to 8 pm. If you have not heard them play, your life is not complete. AND, IT'S PIZZA NIGHT!! Join us for a very fun evening with your neighbors and bring some friends.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Did We Mention the Outdoor Seating?

Okay, it's clear that most people come to the Placitas Cafe for the food and the entertainment, but it's easy to forget what a fantastic view there is right outside our front door. And then there's the outdoor seating area where you can enjoy that great Sandia view and keep your pooch company as well. The sculpture? That's the shaman and don't get me started on how that ended up there...except to say that any friend of the shaman is a friend of mine.

Come on out and enjoy the view while you devour a great breakfast, lunch or dinner. And remember, you'll always have a friend at the Placitas Cafe -- that's just how we roll.

Monday, March 12, 2012

It's a busy week for entertainment at the Cafe...The Casualz will be taking requests as they always do on Tuesday nite, March 13 from 6 - 8 pm. Then on Friday nite, March 16, the Spotted Doggs are bringing their original rock and blues sound to the Cafe, from 6 - 8 pm. If these great bands don't get you tapping your feet, only dynamite will get you moving.

And we're still waiting for you first-timers to come get your FREE buttermilk pie slice. Don't make us come and get you!
