The Heat Is On

We're feeling the heat outside but everything's cool inside the Placitas Cafe. The vibe is mellow, the beer is cold, and the locals are friendly. And the outside patio in the evening is sublime. Come down and see for yourself. We'll save you a seat.

On Friday, June 2nd, Sage will be performing from 6 - 8 pm singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Tuesday June 6th, Scott and Joe, 6 to 8 pm. Here's another chance to satisfy your curiosity. We can't tell you any more than that.

Friday June 9th,  Haiku Cowboys will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Their foot stomping desert rock will have you on your feet...wear your good boots.

On Friday, June 16th, RockZonE will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. If you don't fall for their music, you must not be in the zone.

On Friday, June 23rd, the Old & In The Way will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. They play familiar songs from the 60s-70s- and 80s from lots of genres. They don't look that old but look again -- they are blocking the damn door!

On Saturday, June 24th,

will be performing
from 6 - 8 pm singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

On Tuesday, June 27th, Jerry's In the Way will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Here's another chance to satisfy your curiosity. We can't tell you any more than that.

Hot Times in the Hot Town

Come in out of the heat and relax with a cold, cold beer and some hot spicy food. Yeah, yeah, it's counterintuitive, but we really don't have a counter to intuit and besides, who's counting. Just get out of the sun before you get prunish.

Friday, June 3rd, Haiku Cowboys will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Their foot stomping desert rock will have you on your feet...steel-toed boots optional.

On Friday, June 10th, Don Allen will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm.

On Friday, June 17th, RockZonE will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. If you don't fall for their music, you must not be in the zone.

On Friday, June 24th, the Red Light Ramblers will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Lots of bluegrass and old timey music to get your toes tapping.

On Tuesday, June 28th, the Olde & In The Way will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. They play familiar songs from the 6os-70s-and 80s from lots of genres. They don't look that old but look again -- they are blocking the damn door!

September is the Coolest Month -- That's Cool, NOT Cruel

As the sun sinks slowly in the west (at least we hope that's where it's going), keep in mind that it will be back tomorrow. Too existential for you? Okay then, just enjoy the cool weather and come by the Cafe for the fine eats, great drinks and the best company. And the music, don't forget the music!

On Friday, Sept 4th, No Band will be at the Cafe from
6 - 8 pm. But that doesn't mean you can't have a lot of fun. Perhaps you could eat, drink and think of potential band names. Rubber Band, for instance. Or Marching Band. Or Band Substances.

On Friday, Sept 11th, Beg Borrow or Steal will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. My advice is that you wear a money belt during their performance (but don't forget to throw some spondulix in the tip jar).

On Friday, Sept 18th, Ben & Them will be at the Cafe from
6 - 8 pm.

On Friday, Sept 22nd, Anna Rudolph will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm.

On Friday, Sept 25th, Bohemian Sol will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. and they can keep you warm even if it's a cool night.

May Day! May Day! WE NEED BEER AND PIZZA! NOW!

Sure, you could watch the annual May Day parade in Red Square, but it would be a lot more fun to salute the beer taps at the Cafe while you down another slice of delicious pizza. The choice is yours (but we know which way we're going).

On Friday, May 2nd, Ariana will be singing songs while playing the piano (can you do that? how about while chewing gum? I thought so.) from 6 - 8 pm.

On Tuesday, May 6th, John Bullock and John Davis will play all your favorite tunes for your listening pleasure. Catch them from 6 - 8 pm

On Friday, May 9th, the Olde And In the Way will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. They play familiar songs from the 6os-70s-and 80s from lots of genres. Don't know who the guys are in the picture at right, but they look like old guys who could sing. Come down to the Cafe and find out what they really look like.

On Friday, May 16th, the Red Light Ramblers will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Lots of bluegrass and old timey music to get your toes tapping.

Tuesday, May 20th, The Nancy Show will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. Play show and tell with her...but be nice.

Friday, May 23rd, Bob Gusch will be performing from 6 to 8 pm. He's known for his Brazilian jazz licks with the group Saudade, but will solo for you on his many woodwinds. And maybe some Dixieland as well.

On Friday, May 30th, Bohemian Sol will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. and they will be ready to bring on the heat. Watch out for solar flares!

It's Monsoon Time -- Get Out of the Rain and Dry Out in the Cafe

It's nice and dry in the Cafe but the beer is nice and wet. It's the perfect combination (less wet, more taste).

The Question Mark will entertain you on Tuesday, August 6th, from 6 to 8p.m. If you have to ask, you don't want to know. So don't ask. This is either a big inside joke, or we don't really know who the hell is playing that night. But it's pizza night, so that should be good enough!

On Friday August 9th, 6 to 8 pm. Claystone, the musical duo of Kent Gurle and Doug Davidson, will be performing their acoustical harmonies.

Andrew will be at the Cafe on Friday August 16th, from 6 to 8 pm.

On Tuesday, August 20th, the Red Light Ramblers will be at the Cafe from 6 - 8 pm. Lots of bluegrass and old timey music to get your toes tapping. And pizza to keep your mouth full.

Then it's Sage on Friday August 23rd, from 6 to 8 pm, singing some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Adriana is back at the Cafe on Friday August 30th, from 6 to 8 pm

Lots of Music In August

Bohemian Sol will be bringing their distinctive sound to the Cafe on Tuesday August 14, from 6 to 8 pm.

And as is the case every Tuesday, it's also Pizza Nite. Music and pizza, get it? You should -- they're both very good.

Then on Friday, August 17, Big Moe and the Philtones will be back at the Cafe with  their classic rock and blues sound, also from 6 - 8 pm.

Holding down their usual third Tuesday of the month slot, Cheap and Easy will be back from their It's A Small World Tour on August 21st. Better catch them at the Cafe before the big crowds swallow them up at the 2012 New Mexico Wine Festival.

Then it's Sage on Friday August 24th, from 6 to 8 pm, singling some fine contemporary and traditional music along with a bit of country and light rock.

Sit.Stay will be playing on Friday August 31, from 6 to 8 pm. Roll over. Not you -- the dog.

Falling Rocks?

Nothing to worry about here --- we're talking about the band RockzonE and they will not be sliding down the side of the mountain, so you can enjoy the music. They will be playing on Friday the 13th (yeah, yeah, but no worries, honest -- nothing will fall on you), from 6 to 8 pm. Come out and enjoy the food along with the music.

And check out our menu before you get here -- it's pretty funny if you read the whole thing. See you soon!

Some Sage Advice This Friday

A wise man once said, if you want my advice, you should go listen to Sage, Friday June 22, 6 to 8pm. And while you're there listening to her contemporary and traditional folk music (along with a bit of country and light rock), you should enjoy a delightful beverage and some fine vittles (who says vittles anymore?).

The temperature is rising, so when the sun starts going down is the perfect time to watch it sink slowly in the West at one of our comfy outdoor tables. Bring your friends and make an evening out of it.

Check out our menu here.

And It Rhymes With Easy Peasey

Favorite local band Cheap and Easy will be back at the Cafe on Friday, June 1, 6 to 8 pm. If you have never heard the band play, you must be living under a rock. If you've been living under a rock, it's time to get out from under and find out for yourself what all the fun is about. While you're doing that, you can enjoy our fine food and a nice cold beer (or wine at a temperature of your choice). You can always have it your way at the Cafe (as long as it's our way too). As the great poet anonymous once said, "As you go down life's highway, keep your feet off the furniture." Amen.

And hey, big news! Our new menu is available online. Check it out here!

How Many Syllables Is That Again?

Forget counting syllables --- just come on down to the cafe on Friday, May 18, 6 - 8 pm, for the latest installment of the Haiku Cowboys down home desert rock. Poets are welcome but no literary experience is necessary. The food is great, the beer is cold, and the people are friendly. You couldn't ask for anything better, and if you did, you wouldn't find it. See you at the Cafe!
